Coughy

Rachel should be named Rachel Coughy instead of Rachel Handysnacks because she only coughs. All the live long day. I knew a boy named Bobby Coughy in elementary school. What if they met and fell in love?

Also, Rachel Coughy talks in her sleep. Every night. I can never understand what she's saying, which is too bad because it would be cooler if she revealed secrets about herself instead. Then I could use that information to blackmail her into cleaning out the cat box.

E.A.

I had a horrible, horrible day. I feel like the time between waking up today and right now has been approximately 50% of my life.

When I finally got home, I wanted to do something to make myself feel better. So I watched Evan Almighty. And I do feel slightly better.

Flying Colors

Yesterday, one of our kindergarteners asked Rachel if he could "speak to her privately." She agreed and they stepped away from the group of kids. Once they were far enough away from the group, he crouched down intensely. Rachel knelt next to him. After a moment of heavy silence, he told her -

"I am the real Batman."

The Cycle of Life

Today I brought back out the Chacos.

Also, it is like a heat wave in my room. Like a MICROwave.

I feel boring.

The Wind

The other day, Ricky meowed for five straight minutes at something out the window. It was a bush. Blowing in the wind.

Five minutes.

Failblog is funny.

I didn't know about Failblog.org until Ronny Ronnersons wrote about it on his blog. Then I looked at it and it was very, very funny.

Here are some gems.

1600 meter

I am at a high school track meet with my family. It is the slowest track meet that has ever occurred. Not because the runners are slow- the timers need at least ten minutes to decidecwho won each heat.

However, I like my family so I don't mind the slowness so much.

Oh and PS I dominate at track. I ran in 8th grade. Once, I came in second to last instead of last.

Want to fit in at my house?

If you want to fit in at the Raden/Jobe household, here are some basic rules:

1) You have to be able to identify the following items: Froggie, Snack Drawer, Buppy

2) You must be comfortable with 2-5 animals being in the room at all times.

3) You have to enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars, House Hunters, American Idol, and ESPN (or at least be able to tolerate them)

4) You must be able to deflect banter/jokes/fake threats that are directly aimed at you.

5) You must know where a tennis ball is at all times.

In Puyallup! P-town!

I am currently sitting on a couch, in between my mom and dad, IN PUYALLUP WASHINGTON. That's right, I am on vacation.

Mini-vaca to the home town. Yup. Let's see if I can find some good pictures on their computer. Oh yes, here we are:

Things that Happened at Work Yesterday

A student pooped all over the floor.

This includes the carpet in the gym, the hallway, and the office.

It took over an hour to clean up.

At one point I had picked up a poo pancake the size of my hand. I thought it would be too smelly the throw in the garbage so I flushed it down the toilet.

It clogged the toilet.

It was a long day.

A Special Time

My friend Kristin LOVES the Newsboys. They are a Christian rock band and they've been around since forever. She invited Carolyn and I to attend a concert with her for her birthday.

While neither Carolyn nor I are fans of the group, we agreed to go because Kristin WAS SO INSANELY EXCITED and it was her birthday.

Private information, not to be shared with people that might judge me on a Nerdiness Scale: I really enjoyed the concert.

First of all, I used to love Christian music (before I got to be the cool person that I am now). So I knew all the songs.

Second of all, I challenged myself to be the most OUT OF CONTROL FAN at the concert. So there was much dancing and screaming on my part.

Third of all, the drummer was on this special stand in the back and he was amazing and then the special stand lifted up and started spinning around. I can't explain how excited I was. Is there a video of it on YouTube?

Yes.

But it was way cooler yesterday because there was smoke and instead of seeing it on a movie I saw it in real life.

At heart, I am a Christian music-liking nerd.

YouTube Crush

I have a YouTube crush on this guy. His name is Eric Wuest. He is playing all 3 parts of this song. He is my favorite.

I love the violin so much I start to cry a little sometimes.

Today, in the Walgreens Parking Lot

I saw a sign that said

DETAILING

really big. My first thought, "Oh my gosh, I wish I had known that, I wonder if it's less expensive than it was at the Cat Clinic." And then I realized

it said "detailing" and not DE - TAILING.

It is a place to detail cars, not cats, although cars and cats are only one letter off. I felt very foolish afterwards.

Sleepiness

Things that Prevent Me From Going to Sleep at Night

1) reading (currently The Audacity of Hope

2) watching the Most Watched videos of the day on YouTube on my iTouch

3) doing crossword puzzles

4) looking up useless things online

5) swimming through my millions of dollars in coins like Scrooge McDuck

Me

Something you might not know about me is that I drive a 15 passenger shuttle bus every day. You probably didn't think I could do stuff like that. Well, jokes on you, because I can.

I have only run into 2 things. (not counting curbs.)

1) a mailbox. Knocked it plum over.
2) one of those overhead arche things in front of a church. Didn't realize the bus was more than 9.5 feet tall.

You know when....

You know when you go to the grocery store and get the cart with the wonky wheel? And everyone notices you because the wheel is spinning and wonking around noisily?

Happened to me today.

Buying a condo

My mom thinks I should buy a condo. When did I get old enough for people to think that.

Toilet seats

They should be heated. I know they make those, but it should be standard.

Azithromycin

So, apparently less than 1% of people taking Azithromycin report dizziness or a "spinning feeling."

What makes me part of that special 1%? Couldn't I be included in the over 99% of people that don't feel like they're on the Twirling Teacups?

And, okay, about 7% of the people felt some nausea. I can handle that. I feel a little nauseous, but so did 7% of the other people.

But less than 1%? And I don't feel just slightly dizzy. I feel need-to-sit-down dizzy.

You can't say I follow the crowd.

-dous?

Only four words in the common English language end in "-dous." One of them is "hazardous." Can you name the other three? Answer is in the comments to this post.

Papason, Little D, and Smelly Kelly

I have lot of nicknames for people in my life. I was thinking about that today after I referred to my roommate as Handysnacks on front of someone who didn't know her. They seemed a little confused. I refer to many things by words I make up and I don't usually stop to consider whether or not people can understand me.

Some other nicknames are as follows:

Rachel Handy (roommate): mainly I call her Handysnacks, although I mix it up with Rachie Roo, Homeschool, and Shredder

Mom: Mamazon (main), Lulabelle

Dad: Papa Bear (main), Papazon, Chuck Diesel, Cranky Curls, Posh, Chappy

Kyle (brother): Kyky the Clown, Lil Kykes, Scooter

Carolyn (HLP): Caroola, Boodle Sandwich

Kelly (lifetime bf): KellBell, Smelly Kelly, Fuzzy Bear

I have lots of other nicknames but it's hard to type so long on my iPod. Maybe I should think of a nickname for my iPod.

Cherry Cough Drops

...are not the best flavor, but it doesn't matter because I can't taste any way. Here are the things I have purchased because I am mad at my cold:

Cherry cough drops

Zinc tablets

Vitamin C tablets

Sudafed multi-symptom SEVERE cold medicine

Orange juice

2 boxes of tissues

Hand soap (to wash my hands comstantly so I never get sick again)

I am so mad about being sick I can't even explain it in words. I could try an analogy:

This cold:me::happy puppies:Cruella de Vil

Or maybe a poem:
This cold makes me want to scream
And punch and kick and pout
I keep getting sick all the time
Don't know what that's about

Being sick totally sucks
Especially because it ruined snow day fun

Two things about Nicole

I am so stuffy with Cold #2 that my ears make poppy sounds when I swallow. I HATE Cold #2.

My duvet cover has one fluffy side and one smoother side. Every night when I go to bed I choose which side I want down based on how cold I am. Tonight? Fluffy down. It's snowy out.

ZOO DAY 2009

I WENT TO THE ZOO ON SATURDAY AND A LION CAME RIGHT UP TO MY FACE.

I almost went perma-crazy.

I think he loves me.

Okay, it's hard to see but that is my head on the very right on the bottom and Calix's head next to me. AND THE LION'S HEAD RIGHT IN FRONT OF US.
