"Shut up."

Every day, I pick up a 7-year-old boy from school and every day I say, "It's great to see you today!"

And every day he replies with a varient of "Shut up," "Don't talk to me," or "I wish you'd stop coming." Very normal for the kids I work with.

Except yesterday, he said, "It's great to see you too."

I cannot tell you how surprised I was.
